A very impressive presentation of a wonderful collection. 2 volumes in a slipcase, very nice shelf appeal. VG in paper slipcase, cracked at rear base, some foxing to spines.

Paper-covered card slipcase, with gilt title "Gale Catalogue" and laid-down colour plate on one side-panel. Binding of Vol. 1 with upper corner shared by backstrip and front cover lightly bumped, otherwise a FINE set in FAIR+ slipcase quite secure, but bumped at one upper corner of open end, and with five closed, near-closed and open splits along edges of lengths ranging from 2cm (less than 1") to 14cm (5½"). Heavy item, overseas shipping at cost.

A few thumb marks to edge of papers, from use, both books have a brown coloured top edge to top end of papers. All pages, text and stunning illustrations are in really good, clean, readable order. Printed in the Netherlands by Joh. Enschede en Zonen Haarlem, on Mellotex Smooth High White Paper, the colour illustrations in four colours offset, the black and white illustrations in sheet-fed gravure, th text in letterpress in Monotype Bembo. Photographs by Carroll T. Hartwell, Curator of Photography at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Designed by B. de Does. First published in 1970.
