Encore une fois, apres 9 mois de sobriete, je me suis retrouvee dans les profondeurs de ma dependance, mais cette fois ce n'etait pas seulement la methamphetamine, c'etait aussi l'heroine. Ce qui devait etre juste une fois est devenu une rechute de 18 mois.Je me suis mise a chercher des livres d'auto-assistance sur la dependance et je suis tombee sur celui-ci. Un avis m'a particulierement marquee: il disait que ce livre est radical, completement extreme, avec des idees auxquelles le critique n'adherait pas, mais il jurait que ca fonctionnait ! Quand j'ai lu que l'auteur ne croyait pas aux 12 etapes, ni aux programmes de traitement, ni meme a Dieu pour se sortir de la dependance, et qu'il disait c'est toi qui t'es mis dans ce petrin, c'est toi seul qui vas t'en sortir, ca m'a frappee comme une tonne de briques.Cette idee etait extremement radicale, et apres quatre centres residentiels, plusieurs programmes intensifs externes, les 12 etapes, des parrains, des conseillers en traumatismes et sante mentale, des medicaments, meme la therapie par electrochocs, je savais que c'etait ca la reponse. Je le savais dans chaque cellule de mon corps. J'ai continue a consommer chaque jour comme le livre le suggere, jusqu'au jour que j'ai choisi, celui ou je me suis promis de ne plus jamais toucher a la methamphetamine.Quand ce jour est arrive, j'avais tout ce qu'il fallait sur la liste pour faire un sevrage a la maison, et j'ai suivi a la lettre chaque mot du livre.Depuis, j'ai obtenu un logement stable, je me suis reconciliee avec mes soeurs et mon pere, j'ai vu mes quatre fils deux fois, je suis en train de demander officiellement un droit de visite et eventuellement la garde. J'ai eu la chance de m'acheter une Harley (une sensation meilleure que toutes les drogues), un emploi a temps plein chez le concessionnaire H-D, du respect de moi, de la dignite, et cet amour et cette admiration pour moi-meme. J'ai, laissez-moi le repeter, tout fait moi-meme cette fois. Pas d'intervention, pas de centre de traitement, juste moi.Je crois que dans les profondeurs de mon desespoir, Dieu a mis ce livre sur mon chemin, et c'est moi qui ai choisi de m'y accrocher comme si ma vie en dependait.A quiconque lit ceci et souffre encore de sa dependance: il y a de l'espoir. Je peux honnetement dire que je ne suis plus la meme personne que lorsque j'ai ouvert ce livre pour la premiere fois. Je suis tellement reconnaissante d'avoir trouve ce livre, et le programme qu'il contient m'a redonne de l'espoir et m'a liberee d'une dependance contre laquelle je luttais depuis 8 ans.Ce livre tient toutes ses promesses, et je le recommanderais sans hesitation a quiconque lutte contre une dependance et cherche une solution. Je n'ai plus touche a la drogue, ni meme eu le desir, depuis que j'ai termine le programme. Once again, after 9 months of clean time, I found myself in the depth of my addiction but this time it was not only meth, but heroin as well. What was going to be "just one time" turned into a relapse that lasted 18 months.I found myself searching self help books on addiction and came across this one. One review really stood out to me how this book is radical, completely extreme with some ideas that the reviewer did not agree with, but he swore it worked! When I read the concept was pretty much the author not believing in 12 step, treatment programs, nor God to get clean and he states "you are the one that got yourself into this mess, only you are going to be the one to get yourself out" it hit me like a ton of bricks. That idea was extremely radical and coming from four inpatient treatment centers, a handful of IOPs, 12 steps, sponsors, trauma and mental health counselors, medication, even shock therapy to create aversions, I knew this was the answer. I knew it with every cell in my body. I kept using every day as it suggests in the book until that one day of my choosing that I decided and promised myself to never use meth again. When that day came, I had everything on the list to detox at home and I followed and hung on to every word the book says.Since then, I have secured stable housing, I've reunited with my sisters and my father, I've got to see my four sons twice and I'm actively petitioning for visitation and eventual custody, I was blessed with being able to get a Harley again (a better high than any drug ever gave me), A full-time job at the H-D dealership, self respect, dignity and this love and admiration for myself that I, let me repeat I, did it all on my own this time. No interventions, no treatment centers, just me. I do believe that in the depths of my despair, God did put this book right in front of me and I'm the one who chose to grab on and hang on as my life dependent on it.To anyone that may be reading this who is still suffering in their addiction, There is hope. There is a beautiful life just waiting for you. All you have to do is believe in yourself enough to start reading this book. Until then we will all love you until you start loving yourself.
