Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. A collection of notes, queries, and replies on subjects connected with the County of Kent. Reprinted with additions and corrections from the Gravesend Journal covering the period January 1891 to December 1892. vii, 436pp including index. A fascinating cocktail of miscellaneous information much in the form of questions and answers. "Curious Phenomenon at Tenterden - November 1st 1755 - At Tenterden in Kent and the neighbouring places between 10 and 11 in the morning the water of several ponds was forced up the banks with great violence, foaming, fretting and roaring like the coming of the tide, so as to frighten many that were near. Some are said to have flowed up three times in this manner, others circled around in eddies absorbing leaves and sticks etc. - November 1st 1755 was the date of the great earthquake at Lisbon" Although this is volume two it works well as a stand alone. Internal hinges cracked otherwise very good throughout.
