(med. 1906, chir. 1913) in Brüssel. 1908 - 1921 chirurgische Weiterbildung in Brüssel. 1927 - 1952 ordentlicher Professor für chirurgische Pathologie. Er entdeckte 1913 unabhängig von Agote und Lewisohn, daß Blut durch Natriumzitrat ungerinnbar gemacht werden kann, und übertrug erstmals am 27. März 1914 Zitratblut. Die Entdeckung , daß Blutkonserven durch Zugabe von Glukoselösung haltbar wurden, ermöglichte die Bevorratung mit Blutkonserven, was für die Notfallbehandlung im I. Weltkrieg einen großen Fortschritt bedeutete."
