Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -Growth, development and yield of soybean are a result of a variety's genetic potential interacting with environment and farming practices. Experiments were carried out in two locations for determining the resistance of some soybean genotypes to the cotton leaf worm. Beside that, identification of molecular genetic markers linked to insect resistance was also done. An attempt was done to get some new resistant hybrids through execution hybridization between these cultivars. Plant height, numbers of branches and pods per plant and seed yield per plant were decreased significantly by the infestation of cotton leaf worm (Spodoptera littoralis) as compared with soybean plants grown in Giza region (non ¿ stressed treatment). The results of SDS-PAGE revealed a total number of 21 bands with molecular weight (MW) ranging form about 319.63 to 15.568 KDa. 5 primers showed specific ISSR markers for cotton leaf worm with 6 positive markers for cotton leaf worm resistance appeared in the resistant genotypes, while 2 negative markers for susceptibility for cotton leaf worm were present in the susceptible genotypes.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 104 pp. Englisch.

On the other hand, increasing maize plant density from 17 500 to 35 000 plants/acre by decreasing distance between hills from 40 to 20 cm apart increased significantly grain and stover yields/acre. Merr.) throughout growing ten soybean genotypes under sandy and saline soils conditions and water stress by skipping one day of drip irrigation under sandy soil conditions from flowering stage up to harvest. Intercropping pattern 2:4 (H) gave the highest seed yield/acre as compared with those of normal population of 2:4 (N) and other patterns. Soybean variety (Giza 22) had higher values for all studied soybean parameters than Giza 111 variety. All studied parameters of intercropped soybean were increased by doubling distance between hills of maize plants from 30 to 60 cm under intercropping patterns. Leaf area and yield/plant of intercropped maize were higher than those of solid maize under the same density of maize in the ridges. Intercropping pattern 2:2 (N) gave the highest grain yield/acre as compared with the other intercropping patterns. Wider distance between hills of maize plants (60 cm apart) gave higher values for all studied maize characters.
