Wyeth, Chris Van Allsburg, Paul Rand, and many others. Leonard S. Marcus provides historical commentary and concise artist biographies alongside full-page color reproductions. The book serves both as a visual history of American children's publishing and as a reference work on twentieth-century illustration and graphic design. Book condition: Very Good+. Clean navy cloth boards with bright gilt spine lettering and minimal wear; interior clean and bright with no ownership marks noted. A few faint handling/scuff marks visible on cloth covers, chiefly rear board. Binding sound and square. An attractive collector's copy overall. Leonard S. Marcus (b. 1950) is one of the foremost historians and critics of children's literature in the United States.
