Neither co-star Burt Reynolds (the real star was probably Sarah Miles) nor credited screenplay writer Eleanor Perry (who said most of her work was re-written) had much good to say about the Hollywood adaptation, though the ending of the film was a tad more upbeat and everyone seemed to admire the Utah scenery.
