Cloth. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Near Fine. John Falter (illustrator). First Edition. Tall 8vo (9 1/2" x 6 1/4"), green cloth with black lettering on spine and catoon hitching post on front cover, archival polyester-protected cartoon dust jacket (unclipped) of a horse race drawn by John Falter, who has illustrated the book with story captions by Corey Ford, [N.P.] ~ 141 pages. Cute cartoons and running captions about a winning deal and sure thing for those with good horse sense! John Falter (1910 - 1982) was an American artist best known for his 129 cover paintings for The Saturday Evening Post. Fecund, he turned to portrait painting and book illustration. He illustrated over 40 books; among them: a special edition of Carl Sandburg's Abraham Lincoln? The Prairie Years; Houghton-Mifflin's Mark Twain series. A final favorite was humorist Corey Ford's, The Horse of a Different Color. Corey Ford (1902 - 1969) was an American humorist, author, outdoorsman, sports lover, and screenwriter. He was friendly with several members of the Algonquin Round Table in New York City. Ford published 30 books and more than 500 magazine articles, many of them marked with a gregarious sense of humor. Ford even created the name "Eustace Tilley" for the dandyish, top-hatted symbol of The New Yorker magazine.
