Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. This is a copy of the infamous textbook illustrated with pin-ups, aka "the pornographic anatomy book," written by three colleagues at Duke University's Department of Anatomy. The 907-page book, with green cloth-bound covers and an index, is organized by body region, from skin to limbs. They illustrated many of the chapters with 27 line drawings and pin-up photos of nude women, which caused immediate controversy. Dr. Estelle Raimey, a professor at Georgetown University and president-elect of the Association of Women in Science, denounced the book and called for a boycott. She later claimed the publisher agreed within a few months of publication to stop all advertising and promotion and take the book off the market. But the president of Williams & Wilkins said the ads were pulled because the book was not selling. The unsold copies were later destroyed. Source: "The pornographic anatomy book?
