Paperback. Zustand: new. Paperback. Alexander is the most normal and loved eleven-year-old boy you will ever meet. Until one day, he isnt.Living in the south east of England in the 1990s, Alexanders life appears stable - a warm home, a loving mother, and a familiar school routine. But beneath the surface, things begin to shift. Affection turns cold. Words are twisted. The father he once looked up to becomes a figure of confusion and fear.As the tension in the house builds, Alexander is forced to question everything: his place in the family, his worth, and whether the love he thought was unconditional ever really existed. While friendships and football offer brief moments of safety, the emotional pressure at home grows unbearable, and hes left trying to make sense of a world that suddenly seems stacked against him.Growing Pains is a raw, emotionally charged debut inspired by true events. It lays bare the hidden scars of emotional abuse and explores the quiet, persistent damage inflicted by those closest to us. Told entirely from Alexanders perspective, it captures the confusion, shame, and resilience of a child trying to survive in a home where silence is the only defence. This is book one in a powerful new series following Alexanders fight to be heard, to heal, and to find out who he is beyond the pain.A portion of profits from this book will be donated to child protection charities, including the NSPCC. A raw, fictionalised memoir of a boy slowly realising he is no longer loved. Set in 1990s England, Growing Pains explores emotional abuse, toxic masculinity, and the unspoken damage done behind closed doors. The first in a powerful new series tracing one boys silent fight for survival. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Soft cover. Zustand: Very Good. One of the co-authors inscribed this volume to Norman Hammond (who is mentioned twice in the Acknowledgements) as follows, "Dear Norman, with our warm regards and deep appreciation for your thoughtful and helpful comments and insights in developing and revising this paper, Joe and Jennifer" (as the handwriting of both signatures is the same, clearly one co-author signed his or her first name and signed the other co-author's first name as well; because it looks like a woman's handwriting to me, I think that Jennifer Taschek wrote the inscription). Impinging on the signatures is a stamp indicating that this volume was not accessioned by a Harvard University library; leaves have small crease at bottom corner of inner margins (and top corner of the first leaf); tight, text clean. Paginated 179-217, illustrated. Oversize [br 2]. Signed by Author(s).

Soft cover. Zustand: Very Good. 1st Edition. 85-93 with cited references. Quarto (10" x 7") bound in original publisher's wrappers. American Antiquity Volume 42, number 4 complete issue. First edition. An interdisciplinary approach to Late Classic Maya polychrome-painted ceramics from Buenavista del Cayo and Cahal Pech, Belize allows for preliminary observations relevant to a better understanding of elite pottery production and use in the western Belize Valley. The combination of typological and contextual data from archaeological investigations of ceramics along with art-historical stylistic analyses and ceramic-paste chemical-composition data identifies ordinary and special-purpose vessels excavated from palace-midden contexts as having been created in the same elite-oriented or "palace" workshop(s) at Buenavista del Cayo. The method allows for the identification of unslipped, monochrome, and polychrome pottery excavated from "palace" contexts at nearby Cahal Pech as products of the "palace" school workshop(s) at Buenavista del Cayo, which implies movement of the ruling elite of the site between the two locales. The method also allows for the identification of a group of multiphase special-purpose ceramics excavated from Buenavista del Cayo "palace" middens whose chemical divergence from the other "palace-school" pottery provides evidence for the existence of different ceramic-paste recipes existing simultaneously within the same "palace" ceramic school or pottery tradition. Condition: Edge wear, corners bumped, rubbed and creased, check marks at back wrapper else very good.
