This copy is in near fine condition with only a touch of smudging and small spotting to the white portions of the soft covers - - front and back. Beyond that the interior text pages are in fine condition with no markings or damage to note. This copy is the softcover edition with the stiff wrappers with fold-over edges that provide the interior book notes. The price of $29.95 is shown on the inside front flap. This is the 2005 edition using the highest quality paper and photographic printing to display the remarkable earlier photos of Yosemite with the ?re-photography? of Byron Wolfe and Mark Klett - - with their precision matching of camera locations to take contemporary photos. Signed by writer Rebecca Solnit and photographers Mark Klett and Byron Wolfe and numbered on a transparency colophon over the half-title page. This is copy 26 of 75. Housed in an impressive clamshell box, gray cloth, created at the Tien Wah Press in Singapore. Included rolled in its own compartment is a special edition inkjet print,Panorama from Sentinel Dome, which combines images made by Klett and Wolfe in 2003 with Carleton Watkins historic images from Sentinel Dome in 1865-66. In this book, Klett and Wolfe rephotograph vantages from photographs by Eadweard Muybridge, Edward Weston, Ansel Adams, and other photographers to show how the landscape has both changed and not across almost 150 years. Their own original angles are also included. Solnit--an expert on both Yosemite and photography, to which she's devoted other books--adds an introduction and three essays in her inimitable critical style. An oblong quarto in blue cloth with slate green endpapers. Black and white and color photographs throughout. The book is near fine with a little light bumping to corners from sliding within the clamshell, we think; the jacket is similarly near fine. The clamshell itself is fine, and the photograph remains rolled as found and is unexamined. Still in its original cardboard mailer. A fantastic project and coffee table art piece.
