Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Limited Edition. Incredibly well-connected to the art world of 1960s New York, William Katz wore many hats during his eclectic career. He was Robert Indiana's studio assistant as well as partner, he designed many artists' studios as an architect, curated exhibitions, served as a confidante and muse, and even publisher. In 1967, Katz sought to create a book which showcased the most important pop artists of his time using only the most simplistic of techniques. Fifteen artist (Andy Warhol, Robert Indiana, Robert Creeley, Tom Wesselman, Red Grooms, Kenneth Koch, Marisol, Gerard Melanga, Allen Jones, Peter Saul, Claes Oldenberg, Allen Ginsberg, and John Willenbecher) participated in this project, each creating their own unique rubberstamps to be included in the book. The tipped-in rubberstamp prints are signed in pencil by their respective artist, with the exception of Grooms, Koch, and Warhol. William Katz' signature in pencil is also on the justification page. There are 225 copies of this rare and enchanting book, this copy is number 170. . Signed by Illustrator(s).
