Kroch wurde in Rawicz in Preußen (heute Polen) geboren. In seiner Jugend studierte er an der örtlichen Jeschiwa bei Aaron Joshua Elijah b. Solomon, der zuvor Rabbiner von Glogau und von 1814 bis 1846 Rabbiner von Rawicz gewesen war. Im Alter von 15 Jahren ging Kroch zur Jeschiwa von Jacob Judah * Falk nach Dyernfurth. 1837 schickte ihn Falk zu Akiva * Eger nach Posen. Letzterer war außerordentlich freundlich zu ihm und auf seinen Rat hin heiratete Kroch Falks ältere Tochter. Während er im Haus seines Schwiegervaters war, widmete Kroch seine ganze Zeit dem Studium und setzte dies auch nach dessen Umzug nach Breslau fort, obwohl er früher eine Stunde am Tag geschäftlich unterwegs war. In seinen Studien spezialisierte sich Kroch insbesondere auf das Thema des Konflikts zwischen ?azakah ("Vermutung") und rov ("der Mehrheit folgen"). Die Masse des Schreibens, die er zurückließ, wurde von seinen Enkeln an R. Phinehas Jacob Kohn übergeben, der es schaffte, 11 Bände unter dem Titel ?azakah Rabbah (192761) zu veröffentlichen. Der letzte Band (1963) sowie drei Bände der Halakhah Rabbah (196467) wurden in Jerusalem von A. Krauss veröffentlicht. Die ?azakah Rabbah umfasst nicht weniger als 1.170 Halakhot zu Themen von ?azakah und Rov in der Reihenfolge des Shul?an Arukh. Zweihundertsechzig Prinzipien der ?azakah sowie andere talmudische Themen wurden in der Halakhah Rabbah veröffentlicht. Sprache: hebr.

In den WarenkorbX + 301 Seiten in hebräischer Sprache (durch Inhaltsverzeichnis erschlossen), brauner Original-Leineneinband ca. 26 × 36 cm mit blindgeprägtem Rückentitel (siehe Abbildung 5), Kopffarbschnitt, Einband geringfügig beschabt und bestoßen, eingeklebte Widmung der Enkel des Verfassers in deutscher und hebräischer Sprache auf vorderem… Innendeckel (siehe Abbildung 4), innen kaum Gebrauchsspuren, gutes und fleckenfreies Exemplar KROCH, JACOB LEIB BEN SHEMAIAH (18191898), Talmud-Gelehrter, stammte aus einer angesehenen Prager Familie, deren Name Korch war. Kroch wurde in Rawicz in Preußen (heute Polen) geboren. In seiner Jugend studierte er an der örtlichen Jeschiwa bei Aaron Joshua Elijah b. Solomon, der zuvor Rabbiner von Glogau und von 1814 bis 1846 Rabbiner von Rawicz gewesen war. Im Alter von 15 Jahren ging Kroch zur Jeschiwa von Jacob Judah * Falk nach Dyernfurth. 1837 schickte ihn Falk zu Akiva * Eger nach Posen. Letzterer war außerordentlich freundlich zu ihm und auf seinen Rat hin heiratete Kroch Falks ältere Tochter. Während er im Haus seines Schwiegervaters war, widmete Kroch seine ganze Zeit dem Studium und setzte dies auch nach dessen Umzug nach Breslau fort, obwohl er früher eine Stunde am Tag geschäftlich unterwegs war. In seinen Studien spezialisierte sich Kroch insbesondere auf das Thema des Konflikts zwischen ?azakah ("Vermutung") und rov ("der Mehrheit folgen").
