Zustand: Fine. 1953., 1953. Fine. - An original 9-3/4 inch high by 7-5/8 inch wide sepia-toned oval portrait of the great bel canto voice teacher Enrico Rosati with his wife and daughter. All three are portrayed from the waist up. Rosati, pictured in three-quarter profile at the right, is attired in a three-piece suit with a patterned tie. His wife stands behind his daughter who is lightly leaning into him. There is minor soiling to the borders. Paper remnants along the top edge of the verso would indicate the photograph was once likely mounted. An otherwise near fine attractive photograph. Together with an original 10 inch high by 8 inch wide black & white photograph of one of his students from the chest up. The photograph, dated "December, '53" at bottom left is inscribed & signed by the student in white ink at bottom right "To Meastro [sp] Rosati / in regards of our friendship . With admiration and gratitude . Affecionatissimo / Hugh". There is a tear to the bottom edge of this photo with extensive glue stains to the verso. The famous bel canto operatic voice teacher Enrico Rosati (1874-1963) first taught in Rome at the Accademia de Santa Cecilia and later in New York City. He taught such luminaries as Beniamino Gigli, Giacomo Lauri-Volpi, Frances James, Karin Branzell, George London, and Mario Lanza, among many others.
