The spine ends and corners of the book covers have some beginning bumping and "rubbing. There is a very slight slant to the spine of the book. The text pages are clean and bright. The endpapers have some light, generalized toning. The dust jacket has several edge nicks, tears and small chips missing. The rear dust jacket panel has noticeable overall toning. As per Baumgarten, the book has a dust jacket price of two dollars.

B&W Illustrations; This book is in Very Good+ condition and has a Very Good second state dust jacket. The book and its contents are in clean, bright condition. There is a light slant to the spine of the book and some very beginning bumping to the spine ends of the book covers. The text pages are clean and bright. All edges of the text block have noticeable foxing. The dust jacket is clean and bright but does have a couple of small spots of discoloration and some light toning to the rear panel along with one small semi-closed tear to the bottom front spine joint. The dust jacket rear cover has five blurbs, with is the designation for the second states DJ. "By the late 1920s, Johnson was art editor at several McGraw-Hill trade publications. With the Great Depression, Johnson became politicized and turned leftward, joining the radical Book and Magazine Writers Union. In 1934, he began his cartooning career by contributing to the Communist Party publication New Masses and subsequently joined the publication's staff, becoming its art editor and redesigning the magazine's layout. He remained with the magazine until 1940 and embarked on a career drawing comic strips in a series in Collier's magazine named "The Little Man with the Eyes". In 1942, he developed the Barnaby strip which would make him famous for the left-wing daily newspaper PM." (from Wikipedia).
