Hardcover. Zustand: New. 1st Edition. First edition, first printing. Signed in black ink on the title page by Borensztein. Hardcover. Gold cloth-covered boards with tipped in duotone plates on covers and title stamped in gray on cover and spine; no dust jacket as issued. Photographs by Leon Borensztein. Essay by Sandra S. Phillips. Edited by Todd Hido. Includes a list of plates. Unpaginated (96 pp.), with 60 duotone plates beautifully printed on heavy matte art paper. 12-5/8 x 10-1/2 inches. New in publisher's shrink wrap (slit open for inspection and signature). From the publisher: "After emigrating to the United States from Poland, Leon Borensztein took a fly-by-night job as a traveling portrait photographer, visiting homes and businesses across the country and making portraits for working-class clientele in the style of the Sears Portrait Studios. During these sessions, Borensztein would set up a generic backdrop behind the subject, while moving the camera back far enough so that the camera captured glimpses of the subjects' personal spaces or belongings. The resulting body of work provides a rich sociological document; individually, these are some of the most compelling and touching portraits of their time. Leon Borensztein is an internationally renowned photographer whose work has appeared in Life, Harper's, The New York Times Magazine, and Vogue International. His photographs can be found in the collections of major museums such as the Art Institute of Chicago, Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The recipient of a Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship, Borensztein lives and works in Oakland, California." Signed by Author.

Hardcover. Zustand: New. Limited edition of 500 numbered copies each with a small signed print Leon Borensztein?s powerful little book Tata (Polish for ?Pappa?) pays homage to his father, ?Citizen M. Borensztein? Born in the Polish city of Mi?sk Mazowiecki in 1912, M. Borensztein received his first military award in 1947. It was a Grunwald Badge, presented to him from the Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Army, for armed struggle against the Germans. He soon after received his second medal, for ?Victory and Freedom? The pages of Tata turn to document the many other medals he received through the 1960s. As the list of commendations grows, so the accompanying photographs of the badges begin to feel heavier and almost claustrophobic. That is, until the final spread reveals a white shirt with a single medal. It was presented by The Ministry of Defense of the State of Israel to Mr. M. Borensztein in 1974, for volunteering in the Yom Kippur War. Leon Borensztein?s photographs have been widely published and exhibited in the United States and abroad, and are included in the permanent collections of such institutions as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Art Institute of Chicago; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; and the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum. Limited to 500 numbered copies, each copy of Tata includes a 175 mm x 125 mm original print that has been signed by the artist. ISBN: 978-1-59005-517-5 Hardcover, 210 mm x 153 mm, 16 pages, 10 duotone plates, 1 original signed photograph.

From the publisher: #9. Susan A. Zadeh: I : "Nazraeli Press published Susan A. Zadeh's first monograph, "Drowned in a Dream" to critical acclaim in Spring of 2019, and we are delighted to announce her first contribution to our One Picture Book Two series. Comprising ten self-portraits made specially for this book, "I" is an intimate, vaguely surreal take on a timeless approach to image making, with the artist herself as the subject. Persian by ancestry and birth, Zadeh moved to France as a child, and then to Holland as a teenager. She has lived in Amsterdam ever since. Originally trained as a classical dancer, after a 12-year career at the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam she turned to photography and publishing. Zadeh became well-known as a champion of outsider artists through her seminal art magazine "Eyemazing", which ran from 2002 to 2013 and which received a coveted Lucie Award. Since then, she has concentrated on her own work as an artist." #10. Daido Moriyama: Daido Moto: "Daido Moriyama has been photographing motorcycles on the streets of Tokyo for decades, and for his first contribution to our series One Picture Book Two, we asked him to select his favorite pictures of the subject. The result is Daido Moto. Printed full-bleed with double black ink, the eleven images comprising this book display the sleek, raw power of their subject. Born in Osaka, Japan in 1938, Daido Moriyama is one of t.
