Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Four generations of love, family, tragedy, addiction, wealth, poverty and infidelity. One family produced a handsome, but wild son and the other family, a strong-willed daughter. These two personalities wed, leading to a very interesting, but tumultuous life and one daughter, Lydia. This culminated in a true story of a 4 year old girl's memory of serious problems that many adults have never faced. She was saved by a sense of humor you will find both amusing and heart lifting. Moved from one home to another because of family illness, she also became ill and was isolated for 3 months at the age of 5. Forced to defend one parent, while lying to the other, this only child became 'street smart' at the age of 9 in order to defend herself and keep the family secret. Her life nearly came to a tragic ending when she was 11 years old.Lydia was surrounded by small town characters in an era which was mostly innocent, but incredibly dangerous for this child. Once learning about Lydia's life in the 1940's and 1950's, you will ask yourself, do we really know what's in a child's heart or mind.

Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. First edition. Introduction and In Memoriam by the author's sister, Beatrice Noble. Illustrated with portraits of Noble and Balmont. Featuring translations of eight poems of Constantine [Konstantin] Balmont by Noble, as well as a 15-page article by Lydia Noble on Balmont that originally appeared in the *Boston Transcript*. Neat gift inscription on front fly, boards with a bit of slight discoloration at the crown, one page spread with modest offsetting from a newspaper article laid in, near fine in a presentable but about very good dust jacket with edge nicking and a stain, short tears (one creased) at the crown. According to this book, Konstantin Balmont made Lydia Noble his official English translator, but her untimely death cut short the collaboration. (This book was issued posthumously.) Presumably a very early, if not the first, appearance of Balmont's verse into English. With a small offprint from the *Boston Transcript* (measuring 3¼" x 8"), dated May 6, 1931 laid in, printing two of her poems: "Lines on the Opening of Tutankhamen's Tomb," and "The Lark," both collected in the *Poems* and the latter dedicated to Balmont. A very uncommon book of poetry.

First edition of this photographic compilation showcasing the artistry of ballet. Imperial octavo, original publisher's cloth, frontispiece, illustrated with black and white photographs by Constantine Hassalevris. Signed by the author and the photographer on the half-title page. Presentation copy, inscribed by Raymond Chandler to Sybil, the daughter of Jean Fracasse, "For my Sybi With all my love Ray La Jolla Feb 6th 1958 - The man on page 70 is me, but I wear pants nowadays R." Raymond Chandler was a groundbreaking American writer, best known for his creation of the hard-boiled detective Philip Marlowe and his influential contributions to the noir genre. Jean Fracasse, later Vounder-Davis, was Chandler's secretary. In near fine condition with light rubbing to the extremities and light toning. Souvenir de Ballet (1947), compiled by Lydia Landon Grandier with photography by Constantine Hassalevris, is a visually rich tribute to the artistry of ballet. Featuring over 140 black-and-white photographs, the book captures the movement and expression of more than 100 dancers, including renowned figures such as Agnes de Mille, Alicia Markova, and Jerome Robbins. With a foreword by Anton Dolin, the work contextualizes the significance of ballet as both a performance art and a cultural tradition. Grandierâs curation, paired with Hassalevrisâs dynamic imagery, preserves the ephemeral beauty of dance, making Souvenir de Ballet a valuable historical and artistic document within the field of dance studies.
