Brown cloth covered boards, black titles to front board, gilt titles to spine, 270 pages plus four pages of publisher's advertisement and catalogue. With illustrations and seven maps printed in colour, some folding. Ex library, with one stamp to half title. Condition: A little soiling and foxing to prelims and rear end papers. Binding strained at first text page, otherwise firm, pages clean and bright, the maps in very good condition and the boards a little rubbed and bumped but sound. Some dust spotting to the uncut (untrimmed) fore edges and external top edges of pages.

Card covers, VG+, photogravure illustrations on cover of Jerusalem from Mount Scopus and the American Colony in Jerusalem, contents fine and tight, with colour maps, photogravure pictures at rear, and geography at front, neat name dated 1958 on ffep. A very nice copy.

These tablets recorded select diplomatic correspondence of the Pharaoh and were predominantly written in Akkadian commonly used during the Late Bronze Age of the Ancient Near East. This is a translation of the tablets with some history. CONDITION Blue bds with crisp gilt titles, pp xvi 258 with 4 maps and 2 illus of tablets, catalogue of books published by the Palestine exploration fund to rear. Copy is very bright and crisp with light wear to spine ends and tips. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.

They tell of the Hittite wars, the Exodus, Kings of Jerusalem, The Amorites, etc. The author explains in preface to the 2nd edition "I have carefully revised the whole". and added translations of the Royal letters, that cast light on the "great rebellion" in Palestine. The map show both the Hittites and the Kadesh as Mongols (was this a nomadic tribal nomenclature or physical appearance attributation?
