The author's second novel, narrated by his protagonist, "Hughes" (a writer, of course), who is "totally obsessed by love in all its variations," and presents his journal to us, the readers, to tell us all about it. ("It" being "the universal truth of sex.") (The author, by the way, should not be confused with Eddie Mannix, notorious right-hand man and fixer for M-G-M mogul Louis B. Mayer -- whose real name was Edgar, anyway, and who died the year before this book was published.).
