He was a gifted teacher, humanitarian, scholar, lover of Zion and above all a modest and quiet doer of good deeds. Haim Hazaz won the Bialik Prize (1942), Israel Prize (1953). Like many Jewish writers from his generation in the Russian Empire, witnessing pogroms played a formative role on his work. He lived in a number of major European cities, including Kiev, Kharkiv, Moscow, Constantinople, Paris and Berlin before emigrating to the then British Mandate of Palestine in 1931. settling in Jerusalem. William McBrien (1936-2017) was an Irish-born writer, broadcaster, and biographer who personally knew Sir Noël Coward and was his close friend in Coward's later years . He is best known for writing "Noël Coward: A Biography" (1986), which is regarded as one of the most authoritative Coward biographies . McBrien had direct access to Coward, his circle, and private papers, which is why his work contains firsthand anecdotes and insights rather than purely archival research . He also worked as a BBC broadcaster and arts commentator . William McBrien genuinely knew Noël Coward, not just as a distant researcher but as someone within his social and professional orbit. Why this is genuine (based on the image) Ink behavior The ink shows variable pressure, tapering starts/stops, and slight pooling — all consistent with a fountain pen or felt-tip pen used by Coward in the 1960s-70s. A printed signature would be flat and uniform; this is not. Paper interaction You can see ink sitting on top of the paper, not absorbed uniformly as printing would be. Slight feathering and ink breaks appear where the pen lifted — classic autograph behavior.
