Zustand: Fair. 1847. No Edition Remarks. 194 pages. No dust jacket. Purple cloth with gilt lettering. Book has been rebound, with no adverts. Contains 4 black and white in text illustrations and 4 plates by George Cruilshank. Pages are moderately tanned with noticeable foxing throughout. Cracking to front hinge, however binding throughout remains firm. Loss to fore edge of pages 13-15. affecting text on page 15. Small area of scuffing to pages 16-17. Illustrations and plates are moderately tanned with some foxing. Thumb-marking present throughout. Bottom-right corner of frontispiece is chipped. Boards are a little rub worn with slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped and spine ends are a mildly crushed, with small splits and chips. Heavy sunning to boards and spine. 1cm split to front joint. Noticeable water staining overall. Book has a slight forward lean. Two noticeable dents to upper edges of both boards. Minor ink spotting all over.
Zustand: Good. Good condition. In protective mylar cover. (caricatures and cartoons, english humorous stories, english wit and humor) A copy that has been read but remains intact. A humorous novel of family life, a collaboration between Henry and Augustus Mayhew. Henry Mayhew was known for his strong advocacy for social reform in England, as well as his work with Punch magazine and the Illustrated London News. Phiz, the illustrator (Hablot Knight Browne) is perhaps best known for his work with Charles Dickens. GOOD condition. Heavy scuffing and fading to the covers. Very heavy scuffing and edgewear along the hinges and extremities, with chipping, fraying and loss, including superficial loss of cloth along the spine. Minor soiling. Interior hinges weak but holding. Scattered soiling and staining to the pages throughout.

Prelim pages appear to have been re-attached at hinge in the past and old glue has discoloured at the spine, affecting the inside edge of the title page, frontis, dedication and contents pages. Now mended with professional transparent tape.Remainder of book is tight and clean. Size: 7 x 4 Inches.
