Some toning to edge; toning and foxing to endpapers with front endpapers more so due to newspaper clipping regarding author taped to front pastedown. Walton (in office January 9, 1923 to November 19, 1923) whose polices and legislative efforts met with initial success but who fell afoul of the Legislature while trying to placate both progressive and conservative factions when attempting to fighting Ku Klux Klan political influence by declaration of martial law and the constitutionally illegal suspension of the writ of habeas corpus.
