Seconda edizione, corretta ed aumentata, di questa raccolta di scritti del noto letterato e uomo politico ravennate, Filippo Mordani (Ravenna, 8 settembre 1797 Forlì, 20 settembre 1886). Grande esperto delle opere classiche latine ed italiane, nel 1827 divenne insegnante di ginnasio a Ravenna. Nel 1841 fu accolto nell'accademia Ravegnana di Belle Arti. Nel 1849 fu eletto membro della Costituente Romana. Con la sconfitta dei moti, venne esautorato dall'insegnamento, poi incarcerato e quindi esiliato a Firenze. Nel 1859 prese parte all'Assemblea delle Romagne come deputato del primo collegio di Ravenna.
