Dark gray cloth with a few stains and soiling; some flaking/dulling to front board's silver, brown and , gilt stamping; spine retains bright silver stamping; beveled board edges with corners worn; slight scuffing at spine ends and along joints. Text block edges toned. Pictorial endpapers; past owner's pencil signature on front pastedown; a few scattered light stains and soiling but interior pages overall remain clean. A few slight stress points to binding which is otherwise firm. Still a very good copy.

Rear cover has a larger chip to the lower outer corner and a small creased tear to the outer edge. First few leaves have very small tears to the outer edges. There is creasing to the lower spine corners. Pages are slightly wrinkled overall. ; Approx. 9 7/8" wide by 14 1/2". Page count does not include original paper covers. "Presented by Tefft, Weller & Co. Wholesale Dry Goods ." printed on the front cover, with a full page advertisement for this business on the rear cover. On each cover, the name "Waldron" has been ink stamped above (not on top of) the name "Weller".

With steel engraved inserted plates on thick paper in promotion of sundry small industries, an attractive Albertype showing the building of the Forbes Lithograph Manufacturing Company at the corner of Franklin and Devonshire Streets, more vignettes in line, of architectural interest. Later printings of this title varied in content and in the illustrated plates generated. About a Very Good copy.

The writing pen featured in the final photo was added to provide scale. "The Greatest of the Five Boroughs of Greater New York," as Chadwick's history is titled. Some-300 of the photographs are by George P. Hall and Son, documenting commercial buildings, cemeteries, bridges, banks, public works, houses and apartment houses, schools, hotels, street and waterfront scenes, churches, etc. Printed by the Plimpton Press.
