Hard Back. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: No Dust Jacket. Dixon, Maynard (illustrator). 1974 Aeonian Press Reprint. 488 Pages. This is a 1974 Aeonian Press reprint of the 1908, 1911, 1912, and 1913 copyrights by arrangement with Doubleday & Company. Book has some stains on pager edges and wear around the edges that is difficult so see in the scan. Aeonian Press began reprinting the Hopalong books in 1974 but when they published one of the four titles by Tex Burns (Louis L'Amour) Doubleday objected. A few were released however, and those Aeonian titles have became scarce. Clarence Mulford is known for his Hopalong Cassidy and Bar 20 novels, and more than 60 movies were made in the 1930's and 40's most starring William Boyd as Hopalong. In this book Buck Peters has put everything he owns into the Bar-20 Ranch. When a gang of buffalo hunters decide that they want his ranch and his cattle and his life, things look really bad - until the arrival of cowhand Hopalong Cassidy. Included are four Maynard Dixon illustrations. Dixon had traveled through the southwest and these trips provided Maynard Dixon with the inspiration to create his drawings. He was drawn to the scenes and peoples inhabiting these remote western lands. Illustration Titles: Frontispiece - Suddenly a rope yanked him for the saddle. Page 133 Its Injuns close after us. Page 248 Crawford's Colt tore loose from his fingers and dropped near the wagon wheel. Page 378 You're a liar rang out the vibrant voice of the cowman.
