Hardcover. Zustand: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. THE FLAMINGO FEATHER BY KIRK MUNROE WITH TEN FAB PICTURES BY F. E. SCHOONOVER 1923. I have over the years collected and subsequently sold many of these illustrated children's books. This is one I acquired recently and had never seen before and would consider it quite scarce. Please find: "The Flamingo Feather" by Kirk Munroe with ten color plates by Frank E. Schoonover. This particular copy has some condition issues which have delayed listing it but I am not getting any younger and the book is not being repaired. So, I decided to offer it at a reasonable price because the color illustrations are simply fabulous. All ten of the plates are present and accounted for (I know I checked) although one of them (on page 158) is loose and laid-in. This is the story of the early explorers arriving in Florida and interacting with the Seminole Indians. This medium-sized hard cover book (7 ¼ x 9 ¾ inches 222 pages) was published by Harper & Brothers of New York dated 1923 and according to my research the First Edition thus with the Schoonover Plates. The book is bound in black cloth with gilt titles and framing on the cover and a paste-down plate by Schoonover on the cover. There are gilt titles on the spine as well. Condition: This book is only in good condition plus. The hard covers are rubbed and bumped and the gilt titles on the spine faded but still legible. The paste-down plate has some wear as well but nothing significant (please see the photos). Inside a former owner has left his inked name on the first blank page and there is a good deal of random foxing although much of it seems to be associated with the pages adjacent to the color plates. As mentioned, the one plate is loose but laid-in in its proper place. Both hinges are cracked to the webbing and feel a bit loose despite being still well attached. This book is not ex-library or a remainder. I should also tell you that the digital camera is much more critical in picking up the blemishes than the human eye. All this apparent foxing is much less evident to the eye.…
