Both books are books in the Timber Trail Riders series, both are in very good + condition, and neither book has a dust jacket . . . neither ever did. Timber Trail Riders and The Mystery of the Hollywood Horse, A Peggy Lewis Story was written by Michael Murray and illustrated by Jim Tadych. The book was published by Whitman Publishing Company in 1964 and appears to be a First Edition but is not specifically stated as such. Timber Trail Riders and The Luck of Black Diamond, A Sunny Saunders Story was written by Michael Murray and illustrated by Olindo Giacomini and Arnie Kohn. The book was published by Whitman Publishing Company in 1963 and also appears to be a First Edition but is not specifically stated as such. Again, both books are in very good + condition though both DO have yellowing pages and, probably, brittle spines. They'd still make a nice gift to a young "horse story lover" who knows how to take care of a collector's item book. Thank you!

The contents are divided into eight chapters: Prolegomenon, The State of Shock, Despair, The World Stands Accused, The Complaint Against Heaven, Confession, Unshaken Faith, and Conclusion. This book is an in-depth study of predominant Holocaust themes as reflected in Hebrew poetry during and in the post-Holocaust periods. Rabbi Kohn consulted leading contemporary Hebrew poets, like Aharon Zeitlin, Yehudah Leib Bialer, Israel Efros, Shimon Halkin, and Chaim Chamiel. The material was selected on specific topics such as Shock, Despair; and Reactions to a silent and indifferent world in full view of the annihilation of the Jewish people; and the sense of guilt of those who survived and of those who were not "there". This study unveils for the first time, for the English reading public, poetic sources on the Holocaust. Poetry is the closest emotional testimony of the victims and witnesses of the Holocaust whose testimony reverberates from every verse, particularly of those who can no longer personally bear witness. They eternalized their feelings poetically. Poetry comes closest to a recorded testimony of our martyrs. They conveyed their anguish through verse before dying, thus letting us emotionally experience that imponderable moment and help us, albeit vicariously, identify with that suffering. Thus the martyr and victims testify in poetic genre for the annals of human history what happened, while the other poets record their anguished protest and speak the conscience of our partially decimated people. "The Voice of My Blood Cries Out" reviews the major poets of the Holocaust who wrote exclusively in Hebrew. It explores the major themes of their work, including the shock of the immediate postwar period, the lamentations of Jewish mothers for their lost children, and the profound spiritual turmoil of the survivors. It is a collection of Hebrew poetry that is drawn from the core of a soul-rending outcry in the wake of the Nazi horror. Included is an extensive list of all authors and works discussed in the book. Rabbi Kohn was a survivor of Auschwitz.
