Hardcover. First edition. Slim square octavo [23.5 cm] Pictorial paper over boards. Good. The covers have a general layer of light soiling, and there are a couple of moisture stains on the bottom edges of the covers. The larger stain measures 3 and 1/4" wide by 1" tall. There are 1" losses from the ends of the backstrip, and the underlying boards are exposed occasionally along the edges. The front free endpaper has a contemporary gift inscription, and the bottom margins of the pages have very small, light moisture stains, sporadic chips, and minor abraded patches in the paper. A charming book by the author of Princess Girlikin; or, The Fairy Thimble.

Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. New York: E.P. Dutton & Company, 1892. This is a Very Good copy of the First Edition, an uncommon to rare title. Ida Nichols only had two published works; while Mary DeMorgan was well-known and fairly prolific, this edition is not generally known as part of her canon. Green decorative cloth binding, with the titling on the front cover in black and gilt, along with the representation of a cameo in pink and white; the spine titles are black and gilt. Clean text; 256 pages, all ends giult; decorative endpapers. 29 illustrations "reproduced by the new half-tone process." The illustrations appear to have been hand-coloured in an expert way. Rather light soiling, more at the margins. Corners lightly bumped, and a slight lean. Quite attractive, and lacking any juvenalia. First Edition. Decorative Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
