Author was born in upstate New York in 1825 to an alcoholic father. Moved to Wisconsin in 1844 and lived in a log cabin, settled in Michigan in 1863. Full of accounts of revival meetings, travels through Midwest, Canada, Tennessee, South Dakota, Oregon, glimpses of local life, hardships, etc. Autobiography; Methodist; travel; history; Americana.
