Bumped and rounded spine ends, with soiling and cloth wear. Board edges and corners worn through. Wear to front and rear board illustrations. Text block tanned and foxed. Cracked and stretched front hinge. Some cracked gutters where plates occur. Slight foxing throughout.

Pictorial Boards. Zustand: Good+. No Jacket. 9 Inspiring Short Stories about the courage of Boy Scouts. First Story is "Better Still" about Hunting in Africa. Other include "Deep Water", "The Making of a Brave", "Gold" and "Courage". Paper covered Boards Illustrated in colour with 2 Scouts by a stile on the front and a Scout with a Flag on the spine. Blue & White Illustration of a Scout reading on the back. Frontispiece has a B&W Illustration of the 2 Scouts by the stile. Title Page Illustrated with a Boy by a beached boat. Other B&W In-Text Illustrations throughout. 96 Pages, , 7 1/2" Tall. Undated Edition, Presentation Inscription on front dated 1936. Some edge wear and chipping, mainly around spine edges and corners. Tiny bits of paper missing at spine ends. A little faint browning to title and contents pages but only an occasional spot elsewhere. Hinges sound. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.

Two authors have written eight SHORT stories about the merits and bravery of boys in the scouting movement. 96 pages with b/w decorative drawings interspersed. Stories are set in German East Africa, Scotland, England and Canada. One story talks about the Great War. Adventure icludes tracking criminals, rescuing a child from a fire and scouting out enemy positions. Cond : Issued w/o dust jacket (??)). Pictorial boards show a scoutmaster and 3 scouts of different ranks around a campfire. The scoutmaster is kilted. Spine and back cover are also pictorial. Spine fine but edges chipped. Two back corners are very soft. Light soiling throughout. Binding is VG but split at p. 32. Two large scuffs on back cover. P/O inscr. on verso front cover. No marks, creases, stains, folds, nor tears. Almost giftable !! Quote (p. 14) : " . wriggled flat on his stomach across the open to where the mast stood. In a second his clasp-knife was out and open. He sprang to his feet, severed the halliyards, and snatched the Union Jack as it came fluttering down. Then he knotted it about . ." Size: 12mo.

Contains approximately 128 printed pages of text with 6 single-sided colour plates on coated paper, lots of monochrome text illustrations throughout. Age tanning to the text block edges, in tight and square condition with small rubs to the spine ends. Very Good condition book, in Good condition dust wrapper with pieces missing to the spine ends and edges. The first story is 'Nora Investigates' by Francis Cowen, the last story is 'Elspeth: Probationer' by Sibyl B. Owsley and A. C. Osborn Hann. Member of the P.B.F.A. STORIES FOR GIRLS.

Illustrated hard covers with a blue cloth backstrip - some rubbing to edges, prize presentation plate to front free endpaper (dated 1924), otherwise bright, tight and clean inside. Lots of b/w illustrations and 12 tipped-in colour plates by D.Newsome. 192 pages + prelims. Illustrated Boards. Every book is sent in a rigid cardboard posting box. Size: 25 Cm x 18.5 Cm.
