He was instrumental in fostering an atmosphere of modernity in the country. He symbolized the new generation of India bold energetic and innovative. He dreamt India of the 21 century. He accelerated the pace of change towards liberalization and brought about new attitudinal changes in government and people. He was a crusader of the modern science and technology and enunciated his inspiring vision in clear and confident terms often contradicting the dominant discourse of his time. It was his mission of making India developed as closed as possible to the world in all spheres of human activity. His youthful energies and dedicated efforts for realizing his vision manifested in several path breaking initiatives. He said development must mean the development of society science and technology have a key role in that development. If we are going to restructure our society it will be only possible if we have substantial achievements in areas of front line technology. The power of technology greatly fascinated him. Technology not for the sake of technology but in the service of mankind. His speeches and writings on science and technology have clearly brought out his thought process priorities and new action plan of modernizing India with the current developments of modern science and technology. He did not live long enough to see his India of the 21 century but India lives on to see his dreams. The book will prove useful to the science policy planners social scientists economists management experts and researchers on the contemporaries studies etc by evolving future technology management strategies in employing the combined strength of science and socio economic sectors towards making India a strong modern and vibrant nation i.
