This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed joint post-proceedings of two workshops on web engineering and peer-to-peer computing held in conjunction with NETWORKING 2002 in Pisa, Italy, in May 2002. The 31 revised full papers presented were carefully selected during two rounds of reviewing and improvement. They are organized in topical sections, models and characterization of web traffic, caching infrastructure and content delivery networks, building web-based systems, web server performance analysis, routing and discovery in peer-to-peer networks, applications, programming models for peer-to-peer systems, and security in peer-to-peer computing.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Recent years have witnessed the appearance of new paradigms for designing distributed applications where the application components can be relocated - namically across the hosts of the network. This form of code mobility lays the foundation for a new generation of technologies, architectures, models, and - plications in which the location at which the code is executed comes under the control of the designer, rather than simply being a con guration accident. Among the various avors of mobile code, the mobile agent paradigm has become particularly popular. Mobile agents are programs able to determine - tonomously their own migration to a di erent host, and still retain their code and state (or at least a portion thereof). Thus, distributed computations do not necessarily unfold as a sequence of requests and replies between clients and - mote servers, rather they encompass one or more visits of one or more mobile agents to the nodes involved. Mobile code and mobile agents hold the potential to shape the next gene- tion of technologies and models for distributed computation. The rst steps of this process are already evident today: Web applets provide a case for the least sophisticated form of mobile code, Java-based distributed middleware makes - creasing use of mobile code, and the rst commercial applications using mobile agents are starting to appear.
Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Modern information systems rely increasingly on combining concurrent, d- tributed, mobile, recon gurable and heterogenous components. New models, architectures, languages, and veri cation techniques are therefore necessary to cope with the complexity induced by the demands of today s software devel- ment. Coordination languages have emerged as a successful approach, providing abstractions that cleanly separate behavior from communication and therefore increasing modularity, simplifying reasoning, and ultimately enhancing software development. This volume contains the proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Coordination Models and Languages (Coordination 2005), held at the Ins- tute of Informatics of the University of Namur, Belgium, on April 20 23, 2005. The previous conferences in this series took place in Cesena (Italy), Berlin (G- many),Amsterdam(TheNetherlands),Limassol(Cyprus),York(UK),andPisa (Italy). Building upon the success of these events, Coordination 2005 provided a forum for the community of researchers interested in models, languages, and implementation techniques for coordination and component-based software, as well as applications that exploit them. The conference attracted 88 submissions from authors all over the world.
