"Well known throughtout Manitoba & Saskatchewan as a live performer and broadcaster, Rollin Penner brings his popular weekly CBC Radio column, 'The View from Greenfield' to life on the pages of this highly engaging collectin of short stories. With the cantankerous Uncle Albert holding court in Annie's Cafe, Penner introduces us to the seemingly mundane, yet far from ordinary citizens of the fictional town of Greenfield. Get comfortable with a cup of good, strong prairie coffee and let Pennee introduce you to, among others, Bertram Kauenhofen (proud to be the only Bertram in Greenfield), runaway Frankie Toews, and the unflappable Annie herself. Although the people of Greenfield may be at home in Southern Manitoba, their joys, sorrow, frustrations and struggles are universal. The author's ability to find humour in life's everyday moments will have you by turns, smiling, nodding you head in recognition, and laughing right out loud at the trials and tribulations oflife in Greenfield, These are characters and stories that will resonate with everyone, from small town coffee shop regulars, to latte guzzling city-dwellers." >>> Crossed out name on front endpage.
