In den WarenkorbA single folio leaf, 9 x 14 inches, with six hand-coloured lithographic views of Ramsgate laid on and interspersed with 5 hand-coloured lithographs of sea shells, and 5 other lithographed or engraved hand-coloured illustrations. Mounted in conservation materials ready for framing. Paper sheet a trifle browned but the items laid on are very crisp and clean. Perhaps the work of a young lady, this album leaf is typical of the penchant for the seaside shown by the better-off in the early 19th century. The views are: Ramsgate from East Cliff; Clock House, Ramsgate; Ramsgate Harbour; Pegwell, near Ramsgate; Ramsgate Light House; and Ramsgate Pier from the Pegwell Road. All are exquisitely hand-coloured to a very high standard and make a fine series of views in their own right. The lithographs of sea shells are highly detailed, probably from a work on the subject, and are equally well-coloured. The remaining illustrations are various; a bonneted lady feeding chickens; a two-horse coach with postillion, at the gallop; a boy on a horse that is drinking from a pool or stream; and two caricatures of a character very like Mr. Punch, wearing a horse-collar; the first three lithographs, the latter two engraved on copper, and all well-coloured. The whole is fine representation of how a young lady might pass the time at the seaside and makes a very attractive and decorative item. PRINTS/MAPS RAMSGATE PRINTS/MAPS.
