Jedoch gerade diese lange verschütteten 'Tabu-Erinnerungen' der Zeitzeugen bedürfen einer 'Werkstatt', die sie ans Licht bringen, weil die Gesellschaft aus ihnen lernen und mit ihnen wachsen kann. Das waren ihre Gedanken zu dem optimistischen Titel 'Dennoch haben wir gelacht.', in dem wir Kindheits- und Jugenderinnerungen der Jahre 1933 bis 1955 sammelten. - Nach dem Vorjahrstitel 'Schwarzbrot mit Zucker', in dem wir die Nachkriegsjahre beschrieben. Jetzt sind wir zurückgekehrt in die dunklen Kriegsjahre. Damals, als die berichtenden Zeitzeugen Kinder oder Jugendliche waren, die das Leben so erfuhren, wie es nicht anders kannten. Was 'Frieden' ist, wussten sie nicht. - Heute ergibt es sich, dass die jungen Leute nicht genug wissen, was Krieg ist. - Die Berichte der Zeitzeugen sollen es ihnen deutlich machen: Das ist kein Abenteuer, das man mal eben mitmacht, um später davon zu erzählen. Das ist etwas, was es zu vermeiden gilt. Lasst uns den Frieden begreifen!
