Front board of volume one has loosened and has been internally repaired with tape. The spines remain attractive. Text block binding is intact. Foxing on some pages but generally clean. An attractive two volume set, which could potentially benefit from some repairs or rebinding.

Bound in full tan leather triple gilt rule border; raised bands to spine, gilt titling. Spine is very worn with a 5cm by 6cm piece missing to the bottom (almost all of the bottom compartment). Joints with the boards are cracked and leather is coming away along these edges. Minor loss to the top of the spine. Boards are rubbed to extremities with bumping to corners. Marble endpapers, bookplate to front pastedown. Title page is nearly completely detached and torn away from contents. Binding is ow a little delicate. Contents a little browned with age in places but ow good. pp 966.This book is heavy and may incur extra postal charges.nbsp; book.

Extensive gilt decorated borders to all edges of the front paste-down. Binding good and strong with a little general wear and some rubbing, corners lightlly worn. Inner hinges in blue morocco, the front hinge with minor damage, but not affecting the integrity of the hinge. Contents clean and tight; original grey-coated endpapers. Front blanks with some spotting; title page lightly marked, otherwise pages clean and crisp. A very good, bright clean copy. Lee Warner to front pastedown; armorial bookplate of Bryan Hall to front free endpaper. Family ownership inscriptions in black ink to verso of front free endpaper and fly-leaf, indicating the gift of the book to Septimus Henry Lee Warner by his father in 1843, and then to his daughter Julia on his death in 1870. One further armorial bookplate of Bryan Hall to blank page facing the title. Light external wear - very good overall.

Reverend Richard Mant was a English clergyman who notable wrote numerous works of religious history. Highly ranking in the church Mant became was appointed Bishop of Down, Connor and Dromore. Bound in a quarter reverse calf binding, with marbled paper covered boards. This work has been prepared and arranged by Reverend Richard Mant alongside Reverend George D'Oyly. Reverend George D'Oyly was a cleric, academic and theologian. Among his most notable literary works include this collaboration with Richard Mant. Published under the direction of The Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge. In a half reverse calf binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Externally worn, with heavy rubbing and bumping to the spine and extremities. Heavy loss to the extremities of the front and rear boards. The front and rear boards of volume I are detached but present. Crack to the front and rear joints of The Book of Common Prayer, the front and rear joints of volume I and to the rear joints of volume III and IV. Age toning to the fore edge of each volume. Heavy offsetting to the front and rear endpapers with light spotting. Internally generally firmly bound. Pages are lightly cockled, with the occasional spot. Good Only. book.

Three bound volumes containing 56 plates and 8 maps. Vol 1 Introduction, then Genesis to the Song of Solomon. Vol II Introduction to the prophets then Isaiah to the Second book of Maccabees (end of Apocrypha) . Vol III (titled "Vol II Part II") comprises the New Testament, an index to 'the most remarkable passages", tables of various things and an index to the principle matters contained in the notes. Bindings are fresh but have rubs, scratches and knocks to edges, with a 2" goudge on rear of vol I (see illus). Free of inscriptions and other extra markings, the plates and maps are ivory in colour, rather than aged. A few pages were badly trimmed by the binder leaving pieces outside the gold edged text block. Some foxing spots at the start of vol 1 - mainly Genesis, otherwise clean, firm and very good state for nearly two hundred years. Very heavy at 9.2kg but price includes delivery.
