Prize bookplate to the front free end paper, dated 1903. Illustrated with twelve black-and-white plates and numerous illustrations in the text. Collated, complete. A eulogy to nature and the beauties of scenery, animals, colours, seasons, mountains, water, plants, stars, and all the natural wonder this world has to offer. This work was written by Sir John Lubbock, a philanthropist known for his contributions in establishing archaeology as a scientific practice and his influence in debates concerning the theory of evolution. In a full calf prize binding. Externally bright, though a trifle rubbed. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. The plate facing page 179 is detached but intact. Good. book.
