Brown top edge; toning and some stains to fore-edge and bottom edge. Endpapers toned; staining to front endpapers as well; past owner's ink inscription on frontispiece's blank recto; slight toning to interior pages which are otherwise clean. Binding is firm. Based on the 1930 Pulitzer Prize winning play by Marc Connelly, based in turn on "Ol' Man Adam an' His Chillun," a 1928 collection of pseudo African American folk tales by Roark Bradford. One of only a handful of films to feature an all-Black cast made by a major Hollywood studio during the Golden Age, becoming the highest grossing such film, and remaining so until surpassed by "Carmen Jones" in 1954. 9.5 x 7 inches.
