Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Fine. First Edition. Screenplay for the 1999 American historical drama film written, produced and directed by Tim Robbins. The story fictionalizes the true events that surrounded the development of the 1937 musical The Cradle Will Rock by Marc Blitzstein; it adapts history to create an account of the original production, bringing in other stories of the time to produce a social commentary on the role of art and power in the 1930s, particularly amidst the struggles of the labor movement at the time and the corresponding appeal of socialism and communism among many intellectuals, artists and working-class people in the same period.

Manuskript / Papierantiquität
Draft script for the 1994 film, copy belonging to Dan Mazur, creative executive to Twentieth Century-Fox producer Lawrence Gordon for the film. The Coen brothers' paean to the films of Frank Capra, Howard Hawks, and Preston Sturges, wherein Norville Barnes, a decent but naive mailroom clerk is secretly chosen by ruthless members of the company's board to be the company's president after the founder's suicide, in an attempt to depress the company's stocks and secretly gain control. The script was originally conceived shortly shortly after Joel Coen worked as assistant editor on Sam Raimi's 1981 film "The Evil Dead," and was reportedly completed by the Coen brothers and Sam Raimi in 1985. Production didn't begin however until 1991 following the success of the Coen brothers' 1991 film "Bartin Fink." Heralded for its visual effects and production design, including a scale model of New York City, the film was the Coen brothers' then-biggest budget to date. Originally released to mixed reviews, the film has since been reappraised and is now considered a cult classic. Nominated for the Palme d'Or. Shot on location in Chicago, Illinois and North Carolina. Untitled lavender wrappers. Title page present, dated 1992, with credits for screenwriters Joel Coen, Ethan Coen, and Sam Raimi. 126 leaves, with last page of text numbered 125. Xerographic duplication, rectos only. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Very Good plus, bound with two silver brads.
