Windfall was found to be more severe in areas with high water tables or shallow soils, and trees infected with root rot were especially vulnerable. Additionally, the book delves into the comparative windfirmness of different species, with Douglas-fir and Sitka spruce exhibiting greater resistance than western hemlock.
