Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. NEAR FINE. Illustrated. Clean, tight, bright. 328 pp with index. This dignified and well designed Lakeside Press Classics series was started in 1903. Every 25 years the cover material is changed, type style and production methods are adjusted and updated to keep pace with current developments in fine book making. Although no longer used, older volumes show the publisher's distintive gold oval debossed "pressmark" - an Indian Chief's profile. Gilt top edges on all volumes with gilt lettering lightly debossesd to spines of navy-blue, cloth-covered boards. List of Lakeside Classics to rear of each volume. These books were not sold but given away to employees and select recipients as holiday gifts. Robert R. Rose was a lawyer in Kemmerer, Wyoming. This is the story of his eight years in Kemmerer. The book reflects the economic development of a western twentieth century frontier community with an economic base of petroleum, livestock, and mining industries.
