[NB: we have seen variant copies with a larger cloth backing and the front panel gilt in full. Only the titles are gilt on this copy]. Iris was an Italian immigrant who was dedicated to the plan to become America's foremost poet. He notoriously used a pseudonym, Vincent Holme, to write letters praising his works to publishers. This was his first book.

Italian American immigrant poet from Chicago who ran his own publishing company for decades and used forgeries to promote himself. He was living at Lewis College illegally until 1966 when he was caught. He died in 1967. Seymour was a Chicago artist and publisher who published works by Frank Lloyd Wright and was involved with L. Frank Baum.
