Arlberg, Austria, from 9 to 15 January, 2000. It was the follow up conference of the First International Congress on Skiing and Science held in St. Christoph in January 1996. The conference was organized by the University of Innsbruck, the "Ãsterreichischer Arbeitskreis für Skilauf an Schulen und Hochschulen" and the World Commission of Sports Biomechanics. The scientific programme offered a broad spectrum of current research work in Alpine and Nordic skiing and snowboarding. Apart from seven keynote papers, which were presented by some of the best known experts in this research field, sixty oral and forty five poster presentations stimulated fascinating discussions.
