Maybe some kind one will meet & direct me. Seamus MacManus." Seumas MacManus (31 December 1867 - 23 October 1960) was an Irish author, dramatist, and poet known for his ability to reinterpret Irish folktales for modern audiences. Born James McManus on 31 December 1867 in Mountcharles, County Donegal, he was the son of Patrick McManus, a merchant, and Mary Molloy. He became a teacher, and in the 1890s began contributing articles and stories to newspapers in the US. Carbery died the following year of gastritis, aged 37. MacManus published her hugely successful work for many years after her death. On 9 March 1911 in Manhattan, New York, he married Catalina Violante Paez (died 1962), the granddaughter of a former Venezuelan president, General José Antonio Páez- The couple had two daughters: Mariquita Paez MacManus (1912-2011) and Patricia MacManus (1914-2005). MacManus died on 23 October 1960 after falling from the seventh-floor window of the Mary Manning Walsh nursing home in New York City.He was 92.

Paperback. Zustand: New. First printing (so stated). Ephrata, Pennsylvania: Whatnot Enterprises, LLC, 2018. With letter signed by the author laid in. New in near PERFECT condition with only a tiny bit of very mild shelfwear to the cover (like you sometimes find in any new book store). Flat, uncreased spine. NO chips, tears or fading. Bright and shiny. Sharp corners. Square and tight. NO owner's name or bookplate. NOT a library discard. NOT a remainder. Hinges are perfect. Pages are fresh, crisp, clean and unmarked. Illustrated with a few full color photos. Bound in the original full color pictorial wraps. From the publisher: "What happened in Vietnam . didn't stay in Vietnam. It came home with us! SILENT SPRING - DEADLY AUTUMN OF THEVIETNAM WAR is both a memoir and an investigative journey into all the complications the U.S.government hasn't told you about the Vietnam War. It's not just another bookabout Vietnam or Agent Orange. Rather it'sa 'silver bullet' which cuts through to the heart of the circumstances and pesticides used during that war -- highly toxic herbicides and insecticides, which in some cases are still being used to this very day all over the globe, even right here in the USA. So, forget everything you've heard from our government and everything that you think you know about the Vietnam War because this book is much more than a memoir of one Vietnam veteran's struggles over the decades following the war. It's a story of all the veterans who served in Vietnam and their children. And it could even be the story of you and your children, too. As you read through the book and its volumes of information, you will be absolutely stunned at what the US government had willingly dumped on Vietnam and its own troops.". With letter signed by the author. First printing (so stated). Softcover. New. xvi, 239pp. Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.

Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good condition. Near Fine dust jacket. First Edition (so stated). Macon, Georgia: Mercer University Press, 2005. INSCRIBED / SIGNED by the AUTHOR directly on the dedication page. Laid in is a 2005 full page Typed Letter Signed (TLS) by the author, as "George" on the letterhead of Modern Age Quarterly of which he was editor. The letter is addressed to George W. Carey, a Georgetown University professor for over 50 years and a specialist on political thought and philosophy. SEE his 2013 Washington Post obituary online. Very Good condition in a Near Fine dust jacket NO chips, tears or fading. The book itself is rated only Very Good due to mild bumps to the cover's extremities - NO pages are affected. NO owner's name or bookplate. NOT a library discard. NOT a remainder. Pages are crisp, clean and unmarked. NO underlining. NO highlighting. NO margin notes. From the publisher; "This book seeks to renew interest in Joseph Conrad's moral imagination. Not literary theory but the dignity of creative literature impels the author's reflections on Conrad's novels in their "varied shades of moral significance." Here, the author approaches Conrad's novels in the context of what the novelist V.S. Naipaul writes: "In fiction he did not seek to discover; he sought to explain; the discovery of every tale is a moral one." In illuminating interpretations the author focuses on the consequences of moral darkness and moral warfare as he proceeds to uncover Conrad's basic ideas and meaning. The book shows that morality in Conrad's work is not reducible to an absolute category but must be apprehended in the forms of both moral crises and the possibility of moral recovery enacted in their complexity and tensions. Guiding a reader's travels to the furthest realms of Conrad's imagination so as to penetrate to the heart of the novelist's moral vision is one of the author's dominant aims. These travels take the reader to The Secret Agent, Lord Jim, Victory, Under Western Eyes, Chance, and The Rover. At the center of this study is a long chapter on Nostromo (1904), which is set in a Latin American state and presents a fervid political drama of rapacity, intrigue, betrayal, ideology, revolution. The author views this novel as representative of Conrad's supreme vision of the human world and the human soul in disorder. No chapter better describes how society and character are radically transformed by "material interested" that defy first principles. Anyone disturbed by postmodernist advocates of a New World Order has much to ponder in this challenging book.". First Edition (so stated). Hardcover. Very Good condition/Near Fine dust jacket.
