Edited from the first edition with an introduction & notes by Robert Steele; translated by Ralph Robinson. Tissue guarded b/w. fronttis. illustration of Sir Thomas More. A work of fiction and socio-political satire by Thomas More (1478â "1535), written in Latin and published in 1516. He was the first person to write of a 'utopia', a word used to describe a perfect imaginary world. More's Utopia imagines a complex, self-contained community set on an island, in which people share a common culture and way of life.
