Zustand: Very good. - Sepia-toned cabinet photograph by Conly, 5-1/2 inches high by 3-7/8 inches wide, mounted on a card 6-1/2 inches high by 4-1/4 inches wide with the cast and credits of "Prince Kam; or, A Trip to Venus" printed on the verso, Signed "Sincerely yours / Camille D'Arville" below the photo. There is some very light foxing & soiling to the verso. Very good. The copy on the verso of the photograph states that this card is a souvenir of the 75th performance at the Park Theatre, Boston of Rice's comic opera 'Venus' with libretto by Charles Alfred Byrne and Louis Harrison and music by Gustave Kerker. As the star, Camille D'Arville is listed separately at the foot of the cast list. She plays Prince Kam, son and heir of Poom, the Grand Llama of Thibet. The photo is a head-and-shoulders portrait of a distinctly womanly D'Arville wearing an embroidered cap on her mop of short, curly hair and a doublet with puffed sleeves, elaborately jeweled around the collar.Born Neeltye Dykstra in the Netherlands, Camille D'Arville studied music in Amsterdam and made her debut there in concert in 1877. She appeared in London, toured the English provinces and came to the United States in 1888 under the management of J. F. Duff. The photographer, Charles F. Conly [1846-1892], was best known for his theatrical photographs.

Original 135 page revised final draft shooting script with pink, green, yellow, blue, salmon, and goldenrod color rewrite pages, dated December 2, 1975 to February 17, 1976 for the film A Star is Born by Joan Didion, John Gregory Dunne, and Frank Pierson. Bradbound in printed studio covers. About fine copy with a bit of handling to the covers. The film is a remake of the 1937 original with Janet Gaynor and Frederic March, notably adapted in 1954 as a musical starring Judy Garland and James Mason, and subsequently again in 2018 with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. This version was directed by Frank Pierson and stars Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson in the leading roles as an unknown singer (Streisand) and an established rock star (Kristofferson) who fall in love, only to find her career ascending while his goes into decline. The film premiered at the Mann Village Theater on December 18, 1976, with a wide release by Warner Bros. the following day. This is by far Joan DidionÕs most successful screenplay, grossing $80 million on a $6 million budget in North America, with the film becoming the 2nd highest grossing film that year. Reviews praised its performances and musical score, but unfortunately criticized the screenplay and runtime. At the 49th Academy Awards, the film won Best Original Song for Evergreen, music by Barbra Streisand and lyrics by Paul Williams. It also received 3 Oscar nominations for Best Cinematography, Best sound, and Best Music, Original Song Score and Its Adaptation or Best Adaptation Score.
