Zustand: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - The Insatiable Man is the story of a college student suffering through a lingering discontent which he cannot seem to shake. The protagonist, Matt Quibley, arrives at the conclusion that the core of his unhappiness stems from his evolutionary predisposition for polygamy. Despite being in a relationship with a seemingly perfect girl, he cannot overcome his instinctual belief that life would be better for him if he were romantically involved with multiple women. In a selfish but somewhat endearing journey, Matt attempts to overcome societal limitations by dating five women at once. He quickly learns how challenging his seemingly ideal lifestyle can be, and yet he is determined to pursue his evolutionarily predetermined rights as a male. Along the way, he picks up valuable life lessons from his zany group of comrades and a nutty professor he refers to as the Mad Scientist. When Matt's plan goes awry, he has no one to blame but himself, and he must deal with the possibility that happiness may always be just beyond his grasp.

From the rear cover write-up : "Amazing changes in Eastern Europe erupt in world politics, and not one of America's foreign policy gurus comes within a country mile of predicting them", Eric Alterman wrote in "The New York Times" However, he continued , "The British writer Timothy Garton Ash has documented grassroots politics in Eastern Europe for 'The New York Review of Books' since 1984 . Even before Mr. Gorbachev, he reported that pressure for democratic change was building from below." ********************************************** "Comments like these are no surprise to 'New York Review' readers who have been perusing essays from Czechoslovak President Vaclev Havel since 1979. Havel's essays, which now come by fax from the Prague Castle, used to arrive via the Czech underground when he was in prison. Andrei Sakharov and Adam Michnik are other famous dissidents whose early essays for the 'Review' were written in prison or internal exile. In this book some of the best essays from dissident writers , plus a 'Conversation in Prague' by Philip Roth are collected in a single volume : "Writings From the East". ********************************************* CONTENTS : - The Two Faces of Europe . by Adam Michnik / Words on Words . by Vaclav Havel / Eastern Europe: Après le Déluge, Nous . by Timothy Garton Ash / On Gorbachev . by Elena Bonner / A New, New Reich? . by Gordon A.
