Verlag: Washington: Systems Design Concepts, N.d. [1975], 1975
First edition. Oblong 4to; 100 pp.; illustrated from maps, plans, and drawings. A fine copy in original plastic comb-bound illustrated wrappers. The Project Report for the West Side Highway Project, a.k.a. Modified Outboard Alternative, a.k.a. Westway, a stretch of the West Side Highway between 42nd St. and the Battery. The roughly 4 mile stretch of highway faced increasing oppostion from residents; this report is a response to an initial round of public hearings, and it was all downhill from that point on. With illustrations of fun features like "Continuous Parapet Edge Expression", "Chanellized Driver Experience", "Holland Tunnel Plaza Interchange", all of which encouraged "compatibility with neighborhood environments". Never built.
