Zustand: Good. 2004. 614 pages. No dust jacket, Folio edition with slipcase. Green and brown pictorial cloth. Brown slipcase. Pages are clean and bright, and appear almost good as new. With minimal tanning throughout. Binding has remained firm. Boards are a little rub worn, slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are mildly crushed. Slipcase is scuffed in places with minor shelf wear to edges and corners.

The book is a quality publication even by the high standards of the Folio Society. The author of this book is of course Alexander Thayer, while Elliot Forbes revised that text, while Ian Curteis has edited it and has written the Introduction. The book comes with its original 'Near Fine' slip case. The book was printed at St Edmunsbury Press on Saint Paul's Wove paper. It is quarter bound in two shades of Feincanvas cloth by CUP. The spine titles and front cover design use gilt. The endpapers are printed with examples of the composer's manuscript scores. The book has 614 numbered pages. There are circa 50 photographic illustrations, a mixture of colour and black and white. The size of the slip-cased book in inches is 10.2 x 6.8 and it weighs 1.44 kg.
