The Communion of Protestant Churches in Europe (CPCE), together with other churches, sees it as its duty to speak of God in an understandable, inspiring and encouraging way. This document, the result of a study process lasting several years, was approved by the 9th General Assembly of the CPCE in 2024 and is characterised as a groundbreaking contribution to the understanding of the current way of speaking about God in the CPCE. Following a presentation of the conditions for the discourse on God in European Protestantism, it outlines the basic features of a Trinitarian view of God and God's work, taking particular account of modern criticism of the concept of God's omnipotence. Christian speaking of God includes speaking to God, with God and from God in worship and prayer, which is considered in separate chapters.
